“The majority” of people that drive a specific type of vehicle are not bad drivers lol, that’s just a silly prejudice.

LoL that is so silly 🤣 Of course you're going to use every drop you bought, unless you total your car, someone steals it etc and there is gas left in the tank
It's a given that every car has a reserve, even my Y has a 30 mile battery reserve after hitting 0. But as the saying goes, to each his own

Running a tank all the way low like that isn’t good for the fuel pump, fuel filters. Can cause all kinds of problems.

I typically don’t let it get below 1/4 tank, running it to empty every once in a while doesn’t concern me I just wouldn’t do it all the time. Then there’s the whole risk of running out of gas thing…

I don’t think about the light. I guess I usually just fill up when I see a gas price drop or when it’s just super convenient. Usually I fill up my cars either very early in the AM like at 6am or late at 9 or 10

I’ve ran out before but a fuel pump has never ran out on me. Hey I’m sure you guys are giving solid advice backed by engineers but I’m just giving my experience and what’s worked for me. Continue to give the engineer backed advice but every so often mention you know an idiot who rides on fumes and does 10k oil changes and gets by just fine. And from there let them make their own decision.
Like I’ve learned about these limits from forum members to I can see what I can get away with. Example there’s a 600 mile club on single tank on prius chat site under the 3rd gen forum. On Rav forum, someone has tested how many gallons left once DTE goes from 0 to refuel. I don’t post on those sites. Heck I just get on to learn what’s not in the owners manual.
Tundra forum has its own “owner engineers” as well. Civicx forum too.

I think the potential range could be 1000 for a full hwy trip

That would be pretty awesome!! Depending on the speed. I have a screen shot of me averaging 46mpg with average speed of 78mph (I was trying to keep average speed at 80mph) in my 3rd gen Prius. So in trying to get the average back up to 80mph obviously I had to drive even faster which was hurting its mpg.
So 1000 miles may be possible in the new Prius. In the RAV4 hybrid and Prime it will go into EV mode at highway speed. I believe I saw it in the 70s but you have to pretend there’s an egg under the gas pedal. When I did 600 miles in the Prius that was all in town and mine has the old nickel hybrid battery isn’t as efficient as the lithium battery. Anything over 45mph in the 3rd gen, the engine is running. The new Prius has a lithium battery I believe.
