See we don't have inspections here. No cats would never fly out there or any state where they'll hold your registration or whatever until your car passes.

@FrankReynoldsCPA Right. I know my tires are crap but I'm not paying for new tires until I need them.

Tires have risen, the 430 needs tires OEM soon. They've gone up $100 per tire, so that's an extra 400 bucks plus tax.

Yep, no cats, no pass.

Check out tirerack.com. They sometimes have incredible sales, I replaced the Michelin Primacy summer tires on my Polestar with Continental ProContact AS that were normally over $300 per tire...for $180 per tire. Caveat is, you have them shipped to an installer. I order my tires and have them shipped to my mechanic who installs them for $20 a tire. They also include road hazard which other tire dealers make you buy separately

RE: German cars on tow trucks.

I've noticed that a lot of the time my German clients will tow in for the slightest issues out of caution, most of the time nothing is majorly wrong.

The #1 question Toyota owners ask me is "how long can I drive it like that" when there is an issue like a fairly bad coolant leak or actively shaking wheel bearing. They are also the ones to say "ah it will be fine, run it" and then the rear axle needs to be replaced because the axle seal leak went from slow to blowout.

Very different mentality.

Premium makes a HUGE difference in power. It makes the car fast. It feels sluggish on 87. Just reporting it, not getting into the octane debate.
You should put it on a battery tender since it stays parked in your garage a lot. Its better for the battery, and jumping a car always creates risk that the car could be damaged. The cost of a battery tender is well worth it.

Got my insurance renewal, went up ANOTHER $1,100 a year. This is insane. Last year it also went up $1,000. Now at just under $4k. House also doubled last year and went from $1,300 to $2,600.

Going to switch to Erie. Erie is $500 less for my house and $500 less than that for the cars, plus its just much better insurance.

Jesus Christ that's a jump!

I'm already on Erie/USAA and thought it was getting bad, they are amazing though and haven't given me an issue ever. My only problem stems from how long the body shop is taking to get the 460 in

Horrible.

Erie is great. The guy that hit my LS460L in the rear in 2020 had Erie through the same agency I'm going to use and they were incredible, even gave me diminished value on a leased car no questions asked. Progressive vs Erie I would switch to Erie even if it was a little pricier. Before his hike it was $1,000 more so that was a non starter.

I just couldn’t do it. I have to have 4 matching premium brand tires on my car.

I’ll probably getting new tires next month. The Continental ExtremeContacts have gotten extremely loud. And I can definitely feel they’re not as grippy. They won’t make it to winter.

Welcome to the club. State Farm raised my rates $1700, switched back to Geico. I just switched to Mercury for my homeowners, but only saving $300 from Liberty. Just insane, I pay nearly $5k every 6 months on auto insurance, they only reward for good driving by raising your rates. And now they put you through the ringer when you try to switch to another company, you have to email them them a questionnaire and there is a 15 day waiting period where they can just deny you, even if you have a good record

Sounds like you need to move them to the back.

You're absolutely right, I just haven't gotten around to it... Maybe I'll go to Amazon after this post.

I have no idea why my insurance has not risen. We've debated this--I still hold the same argument about no increase from the car claim---I hit stationary objects twice, two claims...nothing terrible and no damage to anything except the truck.

Insurance also just paid out $9100 to fix our boat from an impact. Then a month later it renewed and only went up like $20. Our car insurance has risen but not by anything significant. I can't believe they let the boat claim slide. I've already paid for it all through next year, it's like $460 for a year. I'm with ya now, I'm surprised they haven't raised my rates.

I use Safeco and love them, (my sister used to work for them) I have an agent my personal agent whom I have rapport with on email standby. It's great.

I should try Safeco lol

My wife did have a minor at fault accident in 2022, she bumped into a Tahoe in a parking lot. I would have just tried to give the woman money but she had never had anything like that happen and didnt call me until it was already over...but that should have been priced into the 2023 increase, it shouldn't go up again the same amount for 2024...

In my case, Safeco was more expensive than Geico

If they don’t raise rates with all his claims it might be worth paying more upfront!

Ordinarily, that $1100+ increase might be attributed to you getting that new 100K+ S-series (and a new Pacifica not that long ago)...but the fact that you also got a similar increase last year probably makes that less of a reason.

See what GEICO (1-800-341-8000) will offer you.....particularly if you bundle house and vehicles together. I've had regular increases every six months for the last few years, but, for whatever reason, last June (my policy runs from June till November), they gave me a significant drop, with no change in coverage-limits. Unlike with many other firms, you can call GEICO representatives any hour of the day or night...they don't use agents that just work 9 to 5.
