Mercedes Cuts S-Class Production Because of Lower Sales
#91
‘I think the rationale would have been that Mercedes could command top dollar for their EVs as they offer high priced models in specific markets. But yes, these huge corporations certainly missed the market trends. The amount of money it takes to build a EV plant and build batteries is absurd. Development of EVs will definitely slow down now and the market cap of 30% overall EV sales might not even be possible
I thought I heard on a podcast that Porsche Taycan and Audi whatever it is called are no softening

Problem with EQS is that it does not look or feel like S class, yet costs almost $200k. This is why they had 2 facelifts so far.
BMW EV sales are growing because they look exactly like BMWs. It is too bad they are based on same platform, because it makes them worse vehicles - you can make them look the same without having rear tunnel left over on the back bench,

The success of the i7 tells us the issue is not EV vs ICE, its the design of the car.

I am not knocking the S-Class in regards to what it stands for, but even refreshed it looks like very old man car from back in the day that your old doctor drove there no doubt it. It will age anyone!!! Then top it off with very high MSRP.
Where if you look at BMW or Audi, it gets you over that by updated modern styling, on top of that no one wants sedans as well anymore including for BMW and Audi.
