Default Just got a 1990 infiniti brochure

I just got a 1989 (for the 1990 model year) infinit brochure, it's 8 pages and outlines the Q45 and M30. Their advertising was very misunderstood back then and I can certainly see why.

Firstly, the Q45 cover title is "The beauty of nature is that..." Which I would say is ok, the car was marketed to be percieved by the public as beautiful. But the M30's title of "The power of nature is that..." is rather inaccurate. The Q is MUCH more powerful and MUCH faster. The acceleration times listed inside added to this.

The M30 times 0-60 in 9.7 seconds, basically what all magazines managed to get. The Q however puzzled me, it seems as if Infiniti didnt give themselves enough credit. According to this brochure, the Q45 does 0-60 in a rather quick 7.5 seconds, and the 1/4 mile in 15.7. However, I have the road and track issue that put a 1990 Q45 and LS400 head to head, and the Q45 tested 0-60 in 6.9 seconds and 15.4 in the 1/4, almost as quick as an SC400.

Even more intriguing is why Infiniti says the 1991 Q45 despite the same hp, torque, and curb weight could do 0-60 in 6.7? (Road and track, june 1991)

Some other example of this would be how cadillac STS's w/ n.star could do mid-6 second 0-60's, but the brochures from that time conservativelt rated them at 7.5 seconds. It must be a nice round number.

More on the strange advertising later...
