when did you drive one, and 'nice' depends on what you want.
the panamera is a sporty luxury sedan. the non-amg s-classes are not.
the most capable panamera setups are astonishingly good with wide ranging abilities, but likely still not near as cushy on bad roads as an s-class.

I drove one a few months ago before I got my S580. When did you drive one? My guess is never lol

I’ve never driven any other Porsche other than a 2024 Cayenne S and the way that thing rides/handles for a small SUV is amazing. I don’t doubt the Panamera drives amazing.
SW - when you say the Panamera you drove was loud do you know whether it had the thermal/sound insulated glass? I heard that makes a big difference. It was an option for about $1200 that I didn’t get because I like hearing the V8 engine. Regardless, I can’t imagine it would be close to the soft ride and tomb quietness of an S class because it’s not trying to be an S class.

Porsches are nice. Maybe one day I can get one for myself. I saw this one the other day. It has bars inside too. How much is this thing? I later saw the owner and wow how can he fit in there and feel comfortable? The seat must be very low.

IMO, the most beautiful Porsche, and one of the most beautiful on the road.
Obviously not the most practical though.

I was just reminded that around the same time the LS500 was launched, BMW also released their own Panamera competitor in the form of the 8 Gran Coupe. And despite being smaller than the LS, it manages to have a larger interior while also being able to fit a TTV8.
It also flopped like the LS500. Not even a TTV8 could save it.

My response was to a statement that I should consider a Panamera over an S Class, and they are very different cars aimed at a different buyer. I drove it briefly and immediately it wasn’t for me. In addition to being much firmer they are actually surprisingly loud. Original LS500 was obviously aimed at the Panamera.

EPA classifies vehicles based on interior volume including passenger and storage space, not exterior dimensions. The Panamera has a large hatch which gives it a large storage number but the passenger volume (98 cubic feet) is on par with every other midsize sedan.
The LS is classified as a midsize sedan by the EPA because of how tight the cabin is.

Doesn't the EPA rate the Panamera as only 98 cu ft passenger???
However, interestingly the EPA adds both passenger and luggage to get the final sub/compact/medium/large rating.
