What about Cayenne S? Someone I work with just got one. Nice vehicle, although I still find the low profile tires look silly on it.

Thumbs up SUV

Sport utility, so you want utility get a lexus, either one really.
sport, go with the bmw, you got some nice rides that are quick, maybe a rugged truck is next in line
the gx is awesome imo, the lx is the nicest one i think, x5 and fx45 is pretty much a toss up, car on a jacked up suspension. You should get a x5 and the lx.

not big on the looks of the Cayenne, and I've never really like the interior layout.

So far, its a toss up between keeping my denali (which is really nice great SUV), a BMW X5, or an LX470..

Didn't know you already have a Denali... would help if you explained what is more important to you, sport or utility. X5 has very little cargo room.

good point. I use my SUV when I'm going out to some property I own (not paved), when I need to carry anything large (such as large gifts), when It is storming outside and raining hard, when I just want to drive something a little higher up, when I am towing my jet skis, when I go on a trip and need to put my new bike on a trailer, when I'm going on a trip and need the extra room for supplies...

I really am going to use it as a beater, but I still like a classy looking vehicle.

OK. So, classy looking beater with lots of room needed. Why didn't you just say this at the start?

How about a used Range Rover? Not the best maintenance record, but seems to meet your needs!

I don't how you compare the Lexus GX470 which costs 45,000$ fully loaded, when even the X5 4.4 goes over 60K when loaded, which means the 4.6 would be even more.

The 4.6 is no longer offered and Actually the BMW I'm looking at was $59,714 and that included HIDs, 19' rims, Sport Trim package, Premium Package, Nav, Heated front and rear seats, Cel phone package, 6 disk changer, and tons of other features. The GX470 I inquired about was $55,622.00 with simular features.

$45,000 is the BASE MSRP for the GX470.. Lexus offers a $8,500 option package ontop of that base price.. You should check your numbers before posting them..

Also, its VERY easy to compare them because its not all about price. Lexus has always been known to offer more for the money that BMW and MB.. SO it wouldn't suprise me that a GX470 would be loaded with more features for less than a BMW X5 4.4..

when I'm going on a trip and need the extra room for supplies...
Have you really taken a good look at the X5 trunk or tried to fit anything in there? I've tried - it's SMALL. If you need to carry the equivalent of even a couple big suitcases, I'd say look elsewhere. Otherwise, I still like driving it more than your other options.

In that case, I'm going to have to change my vote to the LX470.

In terms of luxury, price, reliability, and what suits your needs, I don't think this car can be beat.

X5 is fun car to drive, and i like the styling, which is why it got my original vote, but taking a second look, it doesn't really seem to fit your needs.
