I see what you're saying, although it won't come close to the timelessnes of the 1st gen GS! (I may be a little partial ). I really love the new E class to, especially the aggresive looks of the E55...that car is sweet Not only is Mercedes going to make fans because of their design direction, they'll probably get a few new buyers defecting from BMW's new designs (except for the 3 series, at least they didn't mess up that car.).

Once again, proving the Germans just get worse and worse with their design as time goes on. Their interiors are so incredibly depressing they're beyond words...Could it be any more drab? And I bet that there's a 50/50 chance that those toggle switches make it to production...I wouldn't put it past them.

I think the current S-class is the best looking big car, maybe ever. Especially with the AMG kit. Perfect, IMO.

I third that motion, best proportions ever, road presence, yet still sleek!

New S-class is way too sleek. Personally I think it has lost ALL of it's presense on the road with the new body style. Now days I can't put a finger on it...is it a sports or a luxo car?

Is Chris Bangle doing free-lance work for DaimlerChrysler now?

Interesting interior, it looks like they crossed the interiors of the 745i (long, straight dash with column shifter, big armrest with i-Drive type controller) with that of the Mini Cooper (row of toggle switches on the center stack). Maybach-influenced exterior isn't bad, but I thing the current body style is great (especially after the '03 refresh replaced the scatter-glass headlamps with projectors in a crystal clear housing).

That rear shot reminds me of the Infinit M45.

I agree with you, until the new Audi A8 came out last year.

Aaagh. Seems like Mercedes is going downhill Copy of this,
copy of that...If this keeps up, Lexus will be selling more cars!

MB S-class is losing it's trademark as being the "Mega-Sedan."

This year's is very nice with the AMG or Lorinser kit.
