Decisions decisions
Ok....I know every month or so I post asking about a new car......well this time its fo real. A little under a month ago, my CL got stolen!!! So its time to get a new car. Insurance has paid up.....and seeing as my bday is comin up fast (dec 24) i wanna cop a new ride before then.....i dunno why, it jus seems like i should have some wheels for that day! Haha.....anyways, i'm stuck between a rock n a hard place tryin to decide. I'm a youngin....gonn turn 24, and I'm jus lookin for a fun ride....one that'll turn heads (especially of the ladies) and its come down to either an s2000 or a C5 vette
so can u please gimmie some honest opinions about what u think of these two cars
and dont gimmie no weak 'its really what ur lookin for' lines......if nothin else, based on shear looks what od u guys think is sweeter. i know the 350hp v8 will handle the 4 banger.....but besides that, which car??? man i'm sooooooo confused!!!!

Reply to Kooly...C5 or S2000?
Go with the S2000, hands down.....assuming you want a manual transmission. (most sports car buffs do)The S2000 does not offer an automatic like the 'Vette.
I say the S2000 for several reasons. First, its build quality is MUCH better than a C5. 'Vettes, of course, have a lot of torque, huge tires and brakes, and the fiberglass bodies which never dent or corrode, but they also have a reputation for shoddy workmanship, rattles and squeaks, and expensive body repairs if you DO get a crack in the fiberglass. The C5 has somewhat better build quality than its C4 predecessors, but still trails Honda by a long shot. Both cars have the same general warranty...3 yr/36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper....but the Honda is less likely to actually need it. Being high-powered 2-seaters, neither car will be cheap to insure....especially if you have tickets or accidents on your record. ( Check GEICO, if possible...they generally have the lowest premiums). Both cars have very stiff rides...especially the 'Vette Z06....and neither car will be much good on slick surfaces. You are not likely to get much of a discount off list with either car due to supply and demand....both are low-production vehicles.
Unlike the C5, the S2000 does not have much torque at low speeds...it is an extremely high-winding engine with a redline around 8000 or 9000 RPM and a torque peak around 7000. But the trade-off is much better mileage during normal driving.
One final word....if you are tall or heavy (like me), be sure you can fit in an S2000...like most small 2-seaters, it is cramped inside. The 'Vette has a little more room inside.
Good luck....let us know what you decide and how the shopping goes.

No doubt for the C5. LS1 V8 is not nearly rivaled at all by th I4 in the S2000. More options for modding and the lines and shape are more classic and attractive than the S2000. I'd trade in high revving four banger with VTEC for low flat V8 torque band anyday. With a set of 295's on the back the C5 is menacing tearing away from victims stoplight to stoplight.

See what i mean.....this is a toughy!!!!
I jus want a nice head turnin sports car. And with my budet in consideration, these are my two choices. Its gonna be a daily driver.....I know both are gonna be harsh rides, but thas ok......and on those few bad snow days, I got my GS3 to carry me around
The one reason I'm leaning more towards the C5 is that pics of the C6 are out, and the changes really aren't that drastic. I'm worried of getting the S2000, and then in a year they come out with a new shape. That'd suck...anyone know if they're redesigning it? Its been 4 years, and following the japanese trend of 5yrs n out, it might change. But then again, we have the GS and NSX to counter this...........man I'm sooooo confused
and I can see by the poll results so far, u guys are twisted too....which is good. I guess I cant go bad either way.......clock's tickin tho!!!!!

C5 all the way. Nothing says testosterone like a big honkin' V8 that growls basso rumble notes. There's no mistaking a 'Vette for anything else. You don't have to wind the heck out of it to make it go fast either.
Good luck with your choice.

Choice?
OK, Kooly...I'll give you a much shorter and simpler answer this time. If you want quality, reliability, and gas mileage go with the Honda. if you want to smoke the tires away from stoplights and have a rustproof body, get the 'Vette.
