I am not feeling the styling, have to see in person. I really like the looks of the C5. Since the platform is shared with the XLR, it must be amazing for a Chevy.

Anyone been to the Vette museum? I have, cool place. ANyway, looks aside, this car rocks.
If it's not broke, why fix it.

I dig it just the way it is...

Give me a break; we’re not talking FORD’s here. I have a fleet of Chevy vans & trucks that are abused daily and have proven to be extremely reliable. I have one 98 Chevy 5.7 that’s nearing 230k with no major mechanical problems.

[rant]I think a lot of guys on here automatically associate domestics with unreliable. Remember, the last pole that came out showing Lexus at number one was followed by Cadillac, whois owned by GM. Cadillac finished ABOVE Toyota. I'm not banging on Toyota or Lexus at all because they're both superb companies and i love em both, but GM isn't horrible like some make it out to sound like. My dad's 01 Corvette with 55K miles has had a problem with warped rotors which can mainly be attributed to him and THATS IT, and our 95 Suburban with a 454 and 160K miles needed a replacement A/C compressor and THATS IT (actually the battery exploded and ruined some components but you can't blame GM for that). The two Mercedes we have, have had many more problems than either of the GMs so basically even though we do own Lexuses and they are on the top of reliability, not everyone under us is BAD. I really hope this Corvette turns out to be great and if they're all as reliable as the one we have in our garage, it should shut up a lot of people who doubt it so much. Any of the C5 owners on this board, I'd like to hear if any of you hear all the supposed rattles in the cabin or if your Corvette has broken down on the side of the road on you unexpectedly.[/rant]

I had a 89 (C4) with never a trip to the service dept.

The roof squeeked a little but vasaline now and then fixed that. 250 HP back then seemed like a lot

Can't hardly wait to get another one

Default C6?

Yes, if you just want " bang for the buck " for drag races or high-G-cornering, the C6 is a excellent buy, but quality-wise, there are lots better sports cars out there for the money. They won't quite do the 'Vette's quarter-mile or skidpad figures but they will spend a lot more time out of the shop.
Of course, I'm basing a lot of this on the C4 and C5's history....the C6 is all-new and time will tell.
