Whoa.... turns out the crown is on toyotas webpage along with the FJ cruiser which we know is replacing the rav-4 in 2005, and the corolla XRS which should be out soon. There may be hope...

I just wish that we got full toyota line up here in US. i really like these toyota sedans. i used to drive 94' toyota crown back in my country( MYANMAR better known as BURMA) was very nice. It was 3.0 G Royal Saloon and i think that was the top of the line model but it came with the cloth seat. ( people in my country are pretty interesting. used top of the line versions were always cheaper than basic one because as you know these cars came with all the options such as TCS, TEMS, TRC. air sus and so on, when it breaks down, there's no one can perform the service) there was only one toyota dealer which pretty much doesnt know anything. anyway, that air suspension on my crown breaks down pretty much once a month since the roads in my country are a little bit worse than the surface of the moon. so i traded my car with toyota MARK II 96' Glorie (diesel 2L-TE, with this engine, you will know torque feel better than horse power). man i missed that car a lot. i just wish that they replace toyota AVALON with toyota mark 2 or Chaser or CROWN in US market. and i want the MR2 TURBO BACK in US!!!!

The Toyota Crown has been a car mainly made for passengers and has never established itself as a driver's car, unlike the Mark II. In fact, a lot of companies in Asia use their as company cars. Toyota would like to take a different approach with this generation, which is welcoming.
The Crown is a better car than the Avalon - it offers RWD or AWD, and in the Majesta variation, offers the option of a 4.0 V8. It is also more expensive unless you order the sparsely equipped 2.5 liter Crown Royal.
I don't think it makes sense to bring the car here because it will pit itself against the GS in terms of price. While both cars aren't identical, they are not as different from each other as the IS and ES.

I think a Toyota crown in the states would be excellent. Ditch the Avalon, offer the 2jz-ge and equip it with everything available like GPS, HIDs, leather and maybe a conservative factory kit. It would make a nice cap to Toyota's nice line they have right now. Wonder what kind of price these are gonna go for over in Japan? Love it.

Also, under the link at the top of this page, the crown is the only car that looks like its ready to be an available model today. Pretty much everything else on there...blah. REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Toyota does the right thing on this.
