04 SC430 or 01 911 Carrera Carbriolet?
Ok guys, it comes down to two of these car.
A) 2004 SC430, Crystal White w/ ecru Leather Trim. ($59,245)
Future mods: 20" Chrome Lsportline Evo I, Tein CS ($1400) and AutoCouture Body Kit ($3500)
Pro: It's a Lexus which mean reliability. Hard top convertable. Luxury is a lot better then the porsche.
Cons: Need to spend more money on mods. More expensive then the SC430. Depreciate more then the Porsche.
or
2) 2001 911 Carrera Carbriolet (My boss is giving me a great deal $50K) Silver on gray interior. Six Speed Manual. Only $17K miles.
Mods currently on car: 19" Speedline Wheels, Has Ruf Aero Body kit, wing, exhaust system and intake system, $8K Alpine DVD/Navigation Entertainment system w/ 6 disck DVD changer. Click here to view pics
Pro: The car is basically hooked up already. No need to spend anymore money. Looks great. Price is awesome.
Cons: Rag top convertible = more wind noise. Reliability concern especially for a daily driven car. Higher maintance cost.
If you guys have any opinions, please let me know. So far 50% of me wants the SC and the other 50% wants the 911.
Thanks guys.

As much as I love Lexus, the 996 is a lot sportier and if it is comfertable enough to live with on a daily basis I think that is the car I would choose (all other things equal).
Hope this helps..........kind of.

Hmm, this is a very tough decision, if this was up to me I"d choose the porsche just because of the sport that its known for. After reading the stats of both cars it seems to me like the Porsche is also the better deal and can we say 6 spd. You can't go wrong with the porsche.

Porsche hands down all the way I have driven both cars and that 996 is done right for the right money!! You can not lose with the resale on that car for the price you buying it for anyway...Trust me once you drive the P-car and own it there is no turning back...Best of luck with your decision,,

I'd take the Porsche every time. More exclusive and prestigious for one thing, but an order of magnitude (more actually) more fun to drive. The SC430 is a yawn to drive. The Porsche has more usable space.
Easy choice for me!

The fact that the car is modded with wheels, suspension, aero, and ICE for less than the Bone stock Lexus makes it a no brainer!
I dont know if Peter from Wheel Experts used his car as a daily driver, but maybe you can call him and get some insight regarding the day to day living with these cars. He is also selling his

Porsche, no doubt.
Your concerns about reliability are magnified by being accustomed to the relative perfection of Lexus but the reality is that the Porsche is quite durable. The mechanicals, esp, are very strong. And there are likely a couple of very reputable independent shops in your area that can help defray some of that maintainence cost. (At $85/hr, with what seems like every Lexus dealer routinely performing the rough duty service schedule on every car, Lexus maintainence ain't cheap, either!!)
The car itself is actually more practical than the Lexus. (Styling issues aside, I've always thought Lexus lost sight of what the 2nd gen coupe should be. It's quite impractical with almost zero storage space but way short of having enough performance to justify the absence. Is it a grand tourer? Is it a sports car? I hardly know what to make of a car that the GS can marginally outperform and yet can't hold a golf bag unless it's in the passenger seat.)
This is a rare situation indeed. The deal on the Porsche is so good that it's actually the more financially responsible thing to do!!
This decision would be easy for me!

Cong,
You're getting about $10k+ off in FMV and about $20k+ in free mods ($8k stereo/nav system, $12k+ wheels, kit, intake/exhaust) with the 996. As others have stated, the choice is clear...

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say "get the Porsche". After talking with you, it sounds like you really want some excitement . The 996 will definately bring a smile to your face, unless you hate driving a manual like me.

For the price, with the low mileage, and all the mods that comes with it, I'll take the Porsche. But I assure you the SC430 is more comfortable for normal everyday driving & much more luxurious. Whether you can justify the small trunk space for the convertible hard-top depends on your need and personal preference.
