I'm curious, what state or city did that occur in?

that looks like a good 80 mph crash, not 140... the tree ain't that strong,... you must calculate the weight of the car as it is factored exponentially with speed, not linearly,... that tree should dead meat if it were that fast,... nevertheless, silly dude, senseless accident.

Damn! Thats crazy...

Just the other day my road was blocked off from the main (4-lane) road because some idiot in a Holden Commodore (GS300 sized sedan), took out a wooden power pole on the main road. The Commodore didnt look as bad as that Lancer (the front end was gone), but this power pole (20" diameter) was COMPLETELY split and the top half was still standing - 3 meters from where the base of it was still planted in the ground.

No idea how that tree survived...

Come on though, why would you purposefully throw your car out of control like that...twice? The things people do....then do again.

Hm, you haven't seen Southern California drivers, have you?

I cannot believe the sight of that wreck. God bless his soul. A highschool kid just died in a car wreck near my house and my poor sister witnessed it. Awful scene.

That is what happens when you have inexperienced drivers get behind a car too powerful for them and tries things they see in the movies.

I am pretty sure we will see more of this with the upcoming "economy" Lancer Evo RS that is coming out. I have seen a few stupid Sti drivers here in WA state already thinking thier tough ****** weaving in and out of traffic.

They will all learn..............THE HARD WAY!!!!

This just provided me with another benefit to my MATRIX. It can't even approach speeds near 100 mph forget about 140mph. I guess its a safety improvement.

This is what happens when testosterone and poor reasoning mix.

Truly an awful experience.

its one thing to be doing that when you're by yourself, its a completely different ball park when you risk someone else's life too...

stories like this give me another reason to be careful while driving

Considering high-performance cars were mostly expensive cars, (except Mustang GT, Camero/Firebird) with the influx of high-performance cheap cars (SRT-4, WRX, EVO, 350Z, RX_8 etc etc) will more of this happen? Not to mention falling prices of high-performance cars.

Just 10-15 years ago, u needed a Ferrari to match the speeds we can in a GS 430. Nowadays, it's in abundance.

I can't speak for the driver's inexperience, I can speak at going over 140mph on public roads, and it's no joke and not recommended, PERIOD.

Darwinism at its best. Same thing happened up the street from my house. Stupid kids think every damn street's a race course. People in the neighborhood called the cops when they saw some kids racing (yes, actual line-em-up-and-run racing) down the residential streets. The cops came, searched the area, and found one of the cars... wrapped around a tree. I've down some stupid things while on the road, but I swear some of these people- it's a surprise they were able to make it this far. What ever happened to common sense?

People are stupid. Period.

I can't stand people who risks lives going way too fast and weaving in and out of traffic to get two cars ahead of you...and people who drive too slow, thus aggrevating the rest of us who are just trying to get from A to B...
