It is unfair to include the first generation Ladas, like the orange one pictured above in the list. The were based on the Fiat 124 and offered remarkable space and features for the price. In the 1980s, Lada was a major contender in the World Rally Championship in the 1600 cc class, but . . . we should not let facts interfere with entertaining journalism ;-)
