Okay, okay so I lied, but not intentionally. The speedometer said 140mph but due to speedometer error, in actuality I was probably going more like 136-139mph

Default BATMEN!!

I still think some of you guys are bold and brave, but isn't that why we bought a GS versus a Camry? I think I could get it up tp 140 going to Las Vegas but I'll have the family in the car (not willing to end their lives for my thrill).

When I get a 360 Modena, 150 mph will probably seem like childs play.

1995 SC300 5 spd. = 130mph
I was going so fast that my sideskirt freaked out and jumped off of my car.

I did go 150+ in my MR2 racing an M5. I lost.

170 km/hr (~ 105 mph) for a few seconds. Have not yet driven the SC430 too far out of the greater Vancouver area in more than a year of ownership, so really didn't have the opportunity (long stretch of quiet road) to go real fast safely.

Why are these speeds so hard to believe? Some people are just willing to push their limits a little more than others. By the way did I mention how long it took me to get to 130MPH?

Well, I can say I hit it once and never again in the GS (top speed). It was very scary afterwards. I took the ES to 125mph before but as stated, it took forever.

I never told this part before but when I arrived at girlfriends house down in FAMU, the car was making a funny sound in the rare when I was driving around town. A weird clunk that would speed up when I sped up.

After 1/2 a day, I checked out the car, the driver's side lugnuts had came loose. I was very lucky as if the wheel would have came off doing the 150+, I'd be dead.

I thought the 92-94 SC 400 was fast at speed but the GS 400 was amazing. Taking it on the road, I'd be traveling 120-140mph and with the radio up, you really could not tell how fast you were going. That was what seperated the GS from other cars I drove/had been in up to speed.

When we have the SELOC Supra cousins around our meets, and in riding with them, you realize it's all relative as these cars make the GS 400 look like a slouch. 150mph is a breeze for these modded Supras, you get there so quicly it's amazing. But your FEEL it, you feel every bump and hear the wind. Different experience. I can only imagine a Ferrari, Viper etc.

Taking it to the track, the GS only topped out at about 96-96mph in the 1/4 mile with me.

I had a guy in a new Ford Thunderbird go blowing past me one night. I thought that a Lexus shouldn't have to take that crap. I punched it and followed him. I went to an indicated 147-148 mph and he was still accelerating. My runflat warning light came on and I slowed down real quick. The car felt good at that speed though. It was very smooth. That was with the Goodyear run flats. I bet my Michelin Pilot Sports would be even better at that speed. This was in my 2003 SC430. I had never had the car above 105 before or since then. I would like a rematch with properly inflated tires.

I'll vouch for Retrodrive; I don't think the original LS's had limiters. I've pretty much hit 160(or pretty damn close to it) on a long stretch of straight, level highway, I-80 causeway from Davis to Sacramento. I think a combination of lighter weight, smaller wheels and tires(less rotational mass), and no limiter help those years achieve a higher top speed. Too bad it took forever to get that fast and even longer to slow down, let alone stop. I don't think I'm ever going to push my baby that hard again. 140 is pretty easy to hit, 150 is hard, and 160 requires either huge cahones or a very small brain. Yes, I'm very very stupid. Unless you have ugraded brakes I don't recommend exceeding 135. It's just not safe. But making fun of myself aside, Retrodrive, you are the MAN! That guy has the tech-know-how and the upgrades necessary.
