5-star resale values
Autos site and resale value trackers team up to show consumers which cars really hold their value.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Edmunds.com, an automotive data Web site, will soon begin displaying 5-star depreciation ratings for cars.
The ratings are calculated by Automotive Lease Guide, a company that forecasts the resale -- or residual -- value of cars, information that is used to calculate lease rates for vehicles. The new star ratings provide users a way to compare how well cars can be expected to hold their value over time.

That's interesting, especially since the last time I checked, BMWs had one of the highest residuals of any brand. Either a) they forgot to include them or b) the new 7 and 5 don't have those outstanding residuals that the previous models had. I suspect that it might be B.
UPDATE - Interesting, BMW won the Luxury Brand Residual Award for 2004, but their none of their cars are 5-stars.

I'm more apt to go with edmunds on this. They have top notch research on their site and anyone buying a car should spend some time on their site. Try checking out some of their articles where they sent a guy to be a car salesman at a couple dealerships. Gives a lot of inside info on what goes on there.
Edmunds editors even seem very partial to BMW on their reviews. If they got left off the list, it must be for a reason.
