My 1999 ES300 has cloth

I once saw a US spec GS300 98-up version (it was probably an 02 or 03) with cloth interior and no sunroof...doh!!!

Who the heck would even order that in the first place?!?!?!??!

But now that I think of it, possibly the Nieman Marcus SC 430 with the red leather? 99 produced sold in like 24 hours....

I think the poster above me is correct, the niemann marcus SC430 has to be the most rare Lexus.

I actually had the opportunity to purchase a Neiman Marcus ed. at Prestige Lexus in NJ, but my heart was set on finding a indigo/black combo...never did get that combo. so i settled for indigo/ecru

When we were buying our GS, we enquired about cloth because my mom especially prefers cloth to leather, but they told us it would be a special order/6-month wait! Needless to say, we took the leather.
My 2001 IS300 has cloth. I specifically asked for it that way.......I'm not a big fan of leather, for several reasons. Quite a few IS300's were sold that way. The cloth package was standard, but if you wanted power seats you had to get the leather.

Yes, leather has a nice smell, but it is ice-cold in the winter until either your butt or the seat heaters warm them up, hot and sweaty in the summer.....especially in the sun....and with pure leather, can slide around in them on sharp corners....even with bolstering. The Leather-Escaine package on many IS300's helps, beacuse the Escaine is a rougher surface with more grip.

You are correct that ES's and GS's with cloth can be difficult to find. Dealers don't sell a lot of them, and they tend to make more profit on the leather.

Didn't Rod Millen make some kind of rare modified Lexus?

I though this IS430 was it?

Yeah I think that's much rarer than the Pebble Beach Edition of the SC 430 (can't remember the actual number produced in the US). The PB SC has a one of a kind body color (some shade of blue), darker interior wood trim, and special wheels (kinda like the "pie-plates" of the regular SC 430, but with a blue trim and more pronounced 5-spoke design). Looks nice though

Dont put me in front of a jury on this one, but in previous threads it has been 'debated' that it was indeed avail with black interior, a member that I know thats pretty well versed on SC's also told me that it was avail.

There were 400 examples of the Pebble Beach SC430 produced.
