This happened to me once before.

I was driving my mom's 97 E320. I was stopped at a redlight, then all of a sudden the car surged forward. I slammed on the brake, and the car moved forward at least 6 ft. or so.

Later I found out that my sandals were too big and they were stepping on the gas pedal along with the brake pedal. When I moved alttle the brake was released.

So if I can't notice it, old people can't either.
