Mercedes-Benz S-Class Vs. BMW 7-Series

When I was younger and uninformed about autos, I could see this. Now I see a 7 or S and it is clear they bought it FOR status or b/c they like the LOOKS as they are not better cars. I used to think BMW and Benz were so invincible. As for a "driving car", who the hell buys a 2 ton or 2 1/2 ton "driving" car? Oxymoron?
S class still looks AMAZING, IMO. What a good looking car. The 7, I just am not a real fan of.The LS430 beat the runner-up S-class by fewer than 1,000 sales in 2003. The 7-series, which took third place last year, had only about 2,500 fewer sales than the S-class.
That says alot. Since the LS comes in 1 version to the S430, S500, S55 and S600. Then there is the 745i, 745il, the 760. But both the S and 7 are substantially more expensive.
In conclusion, if u can afford any of these new, this bud's too u.

well, to be honest, although i am a big fan of the ls430, i think if lexus really go out and "finish the lineup" by having something like the ls600 with a v12 in the bar, boy, people will not dare to leave out the lexus anymore. both the 760 and the s600 are over 100k, more or less like 140k? if lexus make one, i say maybe around 100k? that would be a killer, and those people who really buy cars without know anything about what they bought, they will look at the ls600, and imho will kick the lexus name another notch

Well, before jumping headlong into the V12 buisness, Lexus may be waiting to see how the new V12 VW Phaeton does in the American market and if the Phaeton can crack this formerly all-BMW and Mercedes niche. The Phaeton gives roughly the same size and power as the 760i and S600 at a lot cheaper price (80-90K). But a Lexus V12, of course, will probably not be able to equal the VW's price.

Does anyone know how many LS were sold last year? 2004 face lift will help the sale of LS a lot this year and leaving the sale of S-class and 7 series in the dust. 7-series looks uglier and uglier everytime i see that car. it just doesnt look like "a car." i really like the look of S-class with the Lorinser kit but it cant match the interior of LS.

I voted neither as well, since it will easily by the improved LS again this year.
I'm sure many of you know that Lexus is planning a new Ultra-Luxery Flagship
model that will be above the LS (I'm curious as to what the letter designation will be).
This will probably arrive in about 5 years, maybe less.
The interesting thing is that the LS430 has one every recent comparison test
I've seen between it and the 7, S, A8, ect. Just imagine what this new flagship
will do against the competition!
