I believe the reason the RUF completely left the Brabus out of sight at the very end is because from what I've always been reading ever since the SL55 came out, is that there are no street-legal tires in existance that can take a car of that weight past 184mph.... thats the reason its electronically limited even in tuned version. With 640hp and 720 tq, I'm certain with a proper tire, the SV12 could propel itself to at least 200mph if not more. I certainly wasn't expecting the Benz to spank the RUF off the line that bad though considering its curb weight.... both are truly amazing vehicles!! Props to both Ruf and Brabus for taking great machines and making them even hotter.

Well the info I was thinking of, was probably out of this Car and Driver article back in March of 2002(the mag I read the most). Perhaps tire technology has advanced since then.
"Unrestrained, Mercedes reports the SL55 AMG can run to an intoxicating 208 mph—on the Papenburg proving ground, of course. The problem is tires. No road tires exist for these speeds in a 4400-pound car, so even the "unlimited" SL55 is constrained to 186 mph. "
Here's a link to that article.
