I have, and I agree it's one of the best color for the LS

BTW, this poll is a no brainer.

I would take the LS anyday. The phaton just looks like an oversized Passat, whereas the LS has a 'presence' only a MB or a BMW can replace.

Default Passat or LS?

The Phaeton's interior is gorgeous...no question about it. Fit-and-finish is amazing....probably the best I've seen on a production car, except maybe for the Maybach. But go with the LS. Proven engine. Proven car. Proven quality. Proven dealerships. The Phaeton would be considering only if you want a V-12 at a cut-rate price...even then you're talking 80K-plus. VW dealerships have a lousy service reputation, and that new V-12 is very complex and unproven. VW's in general have had poor repair records lately...the only exception being the Passat V6.

If one likes the attention lavished for buying a just released product, fine. The motivation for car ownership is much different and VW is hoping to cash in on it. If the buyer is looking for a short 3 year ownershiop likely plagued with handfuls of trips to the dealer for warranty repairs, by all means. At least with Lexus, we'll get a cold drink, a sandwhich to keep the tummy happy. VW will give you a vending machine and bleed some more $$ out of you.

That forum is a complete waste of time. Does anyone over there know anything about automobiles. The only reasonable argument is that the LS430 exterior looks like the S-class.

Considering the poll shows a fairly even split, the only people who hate Lexus are the one's posting.

BTW LS430 sales are up 72% over last yr
and 98% for March. Someone posted March's press release, and Chevy regained title as #1 car seller.

Who is coughing up $80 for the Phaeton? I haven't seen one on the road.
Of course these are VW diehards. Let us see which car will still be on the roads in 5-10 years.

LS for me too!
The Pheaton is a nice looking car in and out though. I might have to say
I like the styling and especially overall shape of the VW over the LS.

The W12 will actually set you back $95,000 loaded. A screaming bargain
compared to the S600 and 760 (about $125K).

I've only seen one commercial for the Pheaton and it wasn't even a good one.
VW's ad campaign for this car is not even close to being successful. Compare
it to Lexus' launch in '90 and how strong and bold it was. That's what it takes.
If VW ever expects success with this car they need to display it as one of the
best cars on earth and convince people of this. It is a worthy car and even beat
the Benz S-class in a recent magazine comparison. People need to become
aware of these things in order to sell the car.

It would never happen, not with VW's reliability and service. I think most people like Honda and Toyota better, so Lexus...
Just check out what happend to my neighbour with his Touareg:

"Hi all,
Half a year ago my neighbor bought a Touareg V6. Since than he had tons of problems:
* Water in the front headlamp
* Every bump in the road the liftgate would open up
* Radio doesn’t always work
* Air pressure monitoring system failed twice (bipping annoyingly in the car)
* The transmission bangs really hard when the car starts moving in Reverse (VW told him its fine, its like that in all Touaregs )
* The electric system died while he was driving 65mph down the I-95 through a storm. Everything, the lights, and the wipers everything died!!
So now they have his car for the 8th time or so, and now its in the shop for already two weeks! in the meanwhile he is driving a 4 cylinder Ford Escape ( for the service)"

I'll take the LS 430 for it's reliability but I think the VW looks better than the LS inside and out.

After a testdrive I did in the LS430, I would really get the LS.
It's just an awesome car.

LS430 - 34
Phaeton - 0

The poll says it all! Now, about the VW reliablility issues.. One of my coworkers owns the new Beetle- That car is an endless repair nightmare. It has had problems since she bought the car 3 yrs ago. The dealer has 'fixed' the similar problems many times but they keep coming back. She says she will get rid of the car when the warranty expires and will not buy a VW again. Go figure.
