Scion Announces Pricing Of 2005 tC Sport Coupe
04/06/2004 Torrance, CA
Scion, a new line of vehicles from Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced the pricing of its newest addition, the tC sport coupe.
The tC adds a new level of excitement to Scion. The two-door coupe will feature a 160-horsepower engine, four-wheel disc brakes, and standard 17-inch alloy wheels with Z-rated tires. Though the tC has the look of a coupe, it features the versatility of a hatchback. Its extensive standard equipment list includes the first standard all-glass panorama moonroof in the segment.
The tC will offer buyers the chance to personalize their vehicle with a choice of nearly 40 accessories for dealer installation. A rear spoiler, 18-inch wheels and tires, and various interior trim components may be added to suit personal taste. For drivers who want even more sport in their tC, accessories from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) will include a 19-inch wheel and tire package, suspension components, and a supercharger that will boost horsepower to approximately 200.
The 2005 Scion tC will go on sale nationally in late June 2004 with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $15,950. Delivery, processing, and handling fees of $515 result in a base price of $16,465 for the five-speed manual transmission model. An available four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is available for $800.

Me too, it's really cheap (minus dealer installed ricer accessories).
I feel sorry for Celica owners though.

This is MUCH better coupe alternative, in my opinion, to replace the old quad-headlight 1994-1999 Celica than its own 2000 Celica replacenent was, which I thought was too small, too cheap-feeling inside, and looked too much like a Hot Wheels car. I had a blue-iris pearl 1995 Celica and LOVED it...kept it 6 years .
And after both the Xa and Xb, Scion needed something that looked at least halfway conventional.

I love the Scions! the tC is probably by far my favorite. Domestic car manufactures should be taking notes and start putting out things other than crap. This would make an awesome daily driver and not to mention great MPG.
The interior is probably the best I've seen in a sub 20K car. I wouldnt mind getting my hands on one of these or any other Scion for that matter

The xB is hideous... a frikkin BOX with wheels. The xA is slightly better, but still not a car i would ever be caught dead in. The tC is actually really cool. Plus they go for around $15,000? look at the value! A readily available supercharger plus toyota reliability... it really is no wonder toyota just surpassed ford.
200 horsepower in a small car like that is great. I would personally take a camry solara V6 over one of these, but consider the difference in price would be about 10 grand

Toyota definately has a hit with this one. It's funny how the best of the 3 arrives 3rd.
Along with the Mazda 3 this will dominate the class. Why would anybody in their right
mind buy a Hyundai or Kia over this?
I predict Toyota taking over as the world's largest automaker within the next 10 years.
They only have one more company to overcome. (GM)
