Default Lexus loaners and mess

I've had my LS400 for some routine servicing several times and I am provided a loaner while the work is being performed. I treat these like they were my own and keep them clean...out of respect. Seems other people that get these loaners must treat their Lexus like crap.

The past two loaners I have had have been like garbage cans...these are newish cars that have soda, coffee stains, food and other stuff embedded into the recesses of the car. I found a melted chocolate bar in one of the side pockets of an ES. Foot marks on the back of the seats and dash of the RX330 I have now.

I don't know what the attitude is just because it is a loaner/rental, does all respect become forgotten?

My gripe is just because someone else owns it, have some respect for the fine automobile that the Lexus is.

that is terrible.
I have gotten several loaners from my local dealer and they were always washed, fuel topped off and interior was clean and smelling nice.

Couldn't agree with you more RA40. I had a '03 ES loaner while my car was serviced for the 90K. Besides the typically dusty gauge cluster (I REALLY hate dust on any cluster and center console), the leather seats were much more worn down than in my '01 ES, and the rear of the passenger seat had this nasty red smudge (I'd be horrified to see this in my car)

Unfortunately, many dealers don't even have the time to clean the number of loaners that are coming in and going out due to the demand. There is an article in this month's Fortune magazin about how much dealerships are making. There are only 197 dealerships (my last count) in 49 states of US selling over 250,000 cars a year compared to BMW and Mercedes with double the amount of dealership and selling equivelent or less.

I.e. I return a RX 330 at about 10am and as I'm walking into the dealership to return the keys and get the keys to my car, another service representative walks up to me and asks me if I am returning the RX 330. I say yes and she asks if she can get the key. I gave it to her and afterwards, she just hands the key to her customer while saying "You are in luck Mr. xxx".

I agree with RA40. I treat the loaner even better than as if it was my own car! However, I still believe in "there is no such thing as a free lunch" and "what goes around comes around".

From first-hand experience, detailing loaners, they are DISGUSTING!!! When they are coming to the end of their loaner life, they come into the detail shop and we make them nice so the dealership can sell them and make money. People just do not care about them. Its a shame, especially with $40k+ cars like the RX330!

Well, I know my dealer well but even the other dealers, I always got a clean loaner. Now, the loaners I get are damn near brand new, with like 2,000 miles. My family and I are very pleased with the loaners. I swear the RX 300 loaners I used to get sold me to get one for mother. It just won me over.
The RX 330 is doing the same.

Ask for a clean one. I used to ask for only pearl white loaners.

Default loaners

I couldn't agree more about the crap previous drivers leave in loaners. I'm in one now. I had to clean the inside before I felt comfy in it. There were coffee stains over the doors, seats and console. Looked like dog or cat hair all over the car. Cigar ashes filled the ashtray. I vacummed and wet wiped everything.
It's worse for me I guess because I hate coffee, pets and cigars/cigarrettes.

Plus alot of people have kids (especially RX/GX owners) and kids just trash the **** out of everything they touch.

I'm the same way!?! I even parked it far away from other cars when I ran errands, just like I do with my RX.
