if it's a 3 year study and lexus has won for 10years in a row then that would mean it would cover cars sold from 1991 to 2001. I love my 92 and 99. go toyota!!!

Still, there are some strange things here. JD Power shows Lincoln in fourth place.....Consumer Reports has them last in some areas, and second-last to VW in others. Cadillac also is highly rated here but low-rated by CR in reliability. And Hyundai, whis is very low-rated here, has made ENORMOUS gains ( I cannot overstate how much ) in the last three years.....It has been astounding. They are now second to Toyota / Lexus and tied with Honda.

The newest CR ratings are not specific to the 2001 models, so you can't really compare them to this particular JDP survey.

What 's important to me is that Lexus & Infiniti ownz all in all surveys.

Well, it's not surprising that Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura are so consistantly high...they are the Japanese upmarket brands.
Lexus, in fact, was specifically introduced in 1989 to be the best and to humble then-reigning Mercedes-Benz, who at that time made what were probably the best cars in the world....today M-B make some of the worst....see CR.
Infiniti was able to rival Lexus quality-wise but not market-wise...it has never been a contest there. Same with Acura...even though Acura was introduced sometime earlier in 1986.

i think buick ranks 2nd because buick drivers are too old to report problems.

Well, on a more serious note, you can also consider the fact that Buick drivers are usually very easy on their cars, too. How many of today's Buicks get redlined, drag-raced, drop-clutch or brake-torque starts, hard braking, high-G cornering, etc....?
Hard use is one of the primary causes of breakdowns.

Great to hear this news. Lexus can really do it right. Luxury and reliablity. What more could you ask for?

Good observation.
The top four American brands on the dependability list happen to be the top four brands on the average buyer's age list. That's just a bit too much of an coincidence.
