After the beautiful body styling of 1994-1999, The Celica became a POS in 2000, in my opinion, in spite of the more powerful 1.8 V V T-i. The MR2 never had styling as good as the Miata, and Toyota made a classic mistake by strictly limiting its production and THEN complaining that it didn't sell, especially in urban areas where the only optional tranny was the SMT....the marketers basically ruined this car.
It is obvious that the Scion tC is going to replace both of these cars....for now. The tC won't please everybody, but in many ways, it is the car that the Celica SHOULD have become in 2000....and didn't.
Cobra V is right....let's see what pops up in a couple of years or so.
