Well here's the thing, with a Tesla there will be a) onboard data that will confirm beyond doubt if the car was in fact driving itself at the time of the incident and b) video footage as well. I'm always skeptical about these until proven that the car was in fact on autopilot and caused its own accident, because if this were simple driver error the natural tendency, when you have a Tesla, would be to claim it was the car and not you...

I can't speak for every place in NYC, but, from what I have seen of the city, outside of some of the expressways (and assuming that THEY aren't crowded), there simply aren't many places where you can safely go much faster than 25. Too many stoplights....too many intersections....too many pedestrians....too many taxicabs stopping and starting.

GM's system works no better or worse than anybody elses. The point is, those systems aren't designed to stop a driver from running into something at full throttle. They don't take over driving from the driver.
