Correction to an earlier BMW M post

BMW is not making an official M version of the X5. However the 4.6i and 4.8i are both M tuned and therefore can be seen with the M badge. They are just not "official" M cars - I think the lack of manual trans in them is the key factor (I read an article in Autoweek about it and the details elude me).
Very similar to the 1995 540 that had the M sport tuned suspension (everyone always claims there were only like 280 made but man are there a ton for sale). Anway, this car had the M badge or at least the M door sils (just like my 540ia with sport package did), but was not an offical M car.
Confused yet? I am.

My BMW 528i has M sport suspension, brakes, steering wheel, etc... Mo st of the stuff you can get from a dealer arnt options but just honest request. I f you go to a BMW dealer and are gonna buy say a...330ci. If you say to the guy "I want this to handle just like an M3" they will do it for you.(Used to work at a dealer and tune and work bimmers on regular basis). If you notice the M3 GTR Lemans said "Factory Performance parts" means you can whatever for your car.

I've got a friend with a 540 "M" you describe that has the M suspension and chassis but not the M engine.
