Yes, I would actually consider if the price is right and it's a luxury car and not some "value" proposition

No, they just now figured out how to make their door locks work on their current lineup

That would be funny indeed. Actually, I would expect this to happen. Acura seems to be religously against developing a V8. If they haven't by now, I don't think it will ever happen. Oh well.

I sat in that car at the DC auto show in 2002. It looked like the previous LS400.

if hyundai wants to make a luxury brand, it's got to have a name that sounds good in a rap song and a 4 door sports sedan with rwd, a v8 and does 0-60 in under 6 seconds. oh... it has to fit 20 in. rims too.

very interesting topic. but i think it will be awhile before hyundai reaps the benefits of its luxury brand release. but heck, everybody has to start somewhere. and i think its cool in the sense that things from the luxury brand leak down into the lower brands later such has lexus leaks technology into toyota. also, you have to expect hyundai's luxury offering to be much cheaper than the competition. nobody is going to buy a car with no brand image at the same price of something like an infiniti. especially knowing infiniti's track record for reliability.

Yeah. I really like the Equus. It's RWD and the interior isn't half bad. I think it's slated for a redesign soon (word is for 2007) - and that would most surely have to occur before Hyundai would even consider bringing Stateside in '08 or '09 ...

It's also rumored that Hyundai is working on a RWD performance sedan to compete with the G35 and IS.

So - you can see Hyundai's luxury marque shaping up.

All they need now is a lower-priced FWD luxury sedan to compete with the TL and the ES. Perhaps a refreshed Azera.

You got to sit in it? I was at that show, as usual, for 3 days, and they had it locked up.

Beats me why they didn't show it at Detroit.

If you guys know a bit of history .. a LOT of people doubted lexus when it first appeared and infiniti was almost a disaster .. if you guys have read the book "the lexus story" I highly highly recomend it .. it will make you appreciate your car and lexus as a brand even more .

Sorry but that car looks like it was designed in the mid 80s and looks worse than a 1989 Lexus LS with 500,000 miles on it.

That's the old/current Equus.

The new one would probably be based on this Equus HCD-7 Concept :

True, it looks different but it's hardly pretty IMO. It's a good first step nonetheless.
