Top Gear Review of C6 Corvette ( Video )
#3
Waiting for the DL now, and I gotta say this is exactly what I've been waiting for, I really wanna see a vette on video in action and see what people say. Clarkson is the best, and I wonder if he'll give it as much praise as everyone else.

I'm guessing that TVR T350 weighs a LOT less than the 'Vette. Maybe one day America will have a highly respectable, I say this cautiously - reasonably priced, production sports car.
*edit* PUKE - it looks like a complete DOG drifting around like they had it. It wasn't effortless how the NSX, Supra, 240SX/Silvia seem to pull it off.
OH MY .... Clarkson nearly tore the rear off with a couple of fingers.
Wow ... how sad.

haha that's harsh man. actually i think it did pretty good. i agree, if you talk about sheer engineering, the nsx walks away with a big smile. you saw that 1/4 mile run? the c6 is 400hp and the nsx is ONLY 290hp but the nsx killed the c6 so badly. it's not even fun.
and yeah, talk about handling i really don't thikn the corvette is that impressive.
someone explains to me what's leaf suspension in the back?

I'm guessing your question about the leaf springs is a joke. But I'll answer it anyway b/c it's just such a shock.
It's a shock b/c I'm pretty sure that even the old, now-retired, F-bodies (ie camaro, firebird) had independent suspension all around.
Leaf springs look like this:
They are often used in train suspension and - as Clarkson noted in the video - hand-carts, horse-drawn buggies, and some trucks.
But, aparently, Chevy uses it in their iconic sports coupe as well.

Yes, the NSX still stomps (after over a decade) all over the "new" Corvette. Very pathetic. I still lust after an NSX - I've said it before, I know.

I really am surprised how harsh they were about this car. Yes, I like it, but all the other reviews I have read were very good. Not making excuses, but they are often harsh on Americans in many of their shows, and maybe they're just so used to driving TVRs, Ferraris, Aston Martins etc. The Vette really doesn't compare to those cars. Americans really do have to get crackin' on interiors and build quality though...the plastic looks like it's always gonna be a problem in American interiors. I just don't understand how hard it would be for GM to buy any European/Japanese luxury car, look at it, at least use the same quality materials, and build something you could look at and be pleased about.

Here's the full Top Gear list, per their website. At least, for the cars they have tested. I would have really liked to see where the Enzo would end up on this list.

That's what I mean. They talk it down like it's worthless, but it lost to a Pagani Zonda, an SLR, Murcielago etc. What do you expect? It beat the superhandling Lotus, which I think is a pretty good accomplishment. Oh, and all of GMs research did pay off in the handling dept. They worked very hard for good marks in that category.
