Is Carroll Shelby going back to Ford now? I note this one has got the classic blue Shelby stripes.

You better be kidding. To even joke about this beautiful car being in the same league with Chris Bangle's garbage is a capital crime.

The front headlights and bumper looks a little BMWish to me.

Don't get me wrong, I think the car is AWESOME. I think it is the best modern take on a classic design I have seen yet on a production vehicle.

My boss just walked over and said "why do you want that, it looks like a BMW"

I swear, too funny.

Please ... the pictures may be stunning - and I agree it's a handsome car ...

BUT there's just NO WAY Ford can keep this car stunning once it's in full production. The car will simply fall apart if I'm correct. Look at Ford's previous quality-control history ... do you REALLY think that they've made an exponential jump in just a few years? I highly doubt it.

That's one car that I'll make very sure to pass up.

I think the new Mustang looks good though I currently like the current Mustang. To see them going retro is like admitting "Our designs sucked the last 40 years". I liked the evolution of the Mustang. This is a good looking car and with those huge fendors, the dub club will be all over it.

Sad thing is, the same 30 year old suspension except on the Corbra (IRL). And the price is now 25-30k for a GT?On top of that, I HOPE performance improves with Atlimas, TLs, WRXs, EVOs etc doing some serious 0-60 times.

I grant you Ford quality is not the world's standard....but they are better than some others......but when you have a car THIS good looking, it covers a multitude of sins. For that matter, look at the FIRST generation Mustang....1964-1966....which this car imitates. It was not considered a well-built car at all. It squeaked and rattled, the doors didn't close right half the time, the engine burned oil, the automatic transmisson slipped, the steering in non-Shelby versions was sloppy, and the paint faded almost overnight. But it sold like hotcakes in spite of being essentially a redone POS Falcon....people loved its looks.

Also, I was not commenting on Ford's QC in that post.....I was commenting on the new Mustang's looks, and how it is absurd, in my opinion, to compare it with ANY Chris Bangle car.

Don't just take my word for it....take a poll yourself of CL forum members and see how support you find for Bangle's cars.

Yes...a detuned version of this could end up being the next Mach 1.

in my opinion the best "best modern take on a classic design " as Cin puts it... would have to be the Ford Cobra. Not the mustang cobra. They remade some of those what was it... shelby cobra 427's or something like that. Beautiful car with matching power even though i'm still diggin the new mustang look, don't get me wrong.

I almost bought a little SVT mustang. quick little cars but then i figured ya can't beat the quality of a japanese car.
