Shall I pick up a 2005 Subaru Legacy?
Went car shopping yesterday for new or used Lexus LS430 or GS430. I also stopped by Subaru and take a BIG look of the 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT Limited. That car is good in every aspect.......Good looking, nice interior, great handling and performance.....etc. Fully loaded with 5-Speed automatic gearbox with tax & license fee......$32000 OUT THE DOOR!!! That is a great deal!!! Instead of paying $45000 for an used 2001 LS430 with 55000 miles, I can have $13000 extra for the turbo upgrade, wheels, coilovers....etc.
BUT..............I still can't get over my VIP style I'm poison too deep by VIP

I'm thinking about getting this car too. Subaru just sent me a VIP invitation to buy any of their cars at invoice cuz I participated in the Car and Driver event. Goto this event Lonely if you can. Fill out the survey and they'll probably send you the same VIP form. If you do get a Subaru, at least you could say you got it thru VIP. But yeah, you won't see this in VIPCAR magazines.
They even said WRX STI are included in the VIP program.
I wonder if this is really a good deal or do Subarus usually sell at invoice anyways.

Don't fall for that "invoice" line......that figure can mean anything that a dealership wants it to mean.
The best way to buy a Subaru is the best way to model that is not in high demand, take advantages of any incentives offered, and just make the best deal you can.....and then don't go home and WORRY about it....."Did I get the best deal; did somebody else pay less?", etc...
The 2005 Legacy / Outback is an excellent car...I highly recommend it. If you like to do your own service, consider the Outback 2.5i.....it sits up higher than the Legacy for easy access under the front bumper for EASY oil changes...the oil filter and drain plug are RIGHT THERE. The oil filter also hangs upside-down so oil doesn't run out when you unscrew it. Unlike the Foresters and the more expensive Outback Turbos and 3.0's, the base car does not have a panel under the engine...making oil changes even simpler. However, if you request, the dealership might deliver another model without the panel......many guys want the Turbo.

Sorry....my last post got chopped up. The correct sentence is: 'The best way to buy a new Subaru is the best way to buy most new cars......find a more-or-less honest dealership and salesperson, bargain on a model that is not in high demand, check Edmunds.com for a rough selling price (the selling price may not apply to your EXACT car and options), take advantage of any incentives offered, and just make the best deal you can."
This new computer of mine is still a little quirky....sorry about that.

I came close to buying (leasing or smartbuy) the Legacy GT. If my wife didn't turn her nose up and the depreciation wasn't like a brick in a lake it would be in my driveway.
The $319 lease is an insanely nice deal, though.
I put this car right up there next to another used GS400.
Turns out, it looks like I'm going to buy a primo condition 71 280SE 3.5 coupe, 4 speed manual. Yes, I'm slightly insane.
