Wow Dave, thanks for sharing. Great article in AutoWeek this issue interviewing Jay Leno who had a GT on loan I think and also owns a new Ford GT and a Mercedes SLR (gullwing!) and he was comparing them all. He's a real car nut, and a funny guy.

He described the Porsche GT as a technological tour de force. But he said the Ford GT was the bargain of the century and something a regular car guy can work on.

Oh and I *LOVE* the new 997. It will definitely be something I look at when I get serious about another car.

Concerning the 19s, with the 997, the whole susension geometry was re-made for 19s. 18s are standard. the issue is Porsche knows 996 owners love slapping 19s on the car and they were not happy with the handling of the 996 with 19s. If you notice all 996s go no higher that 18s.

Those wheels are designed that way to;
1. allow additional cooling for the Ceramic brakes/brakes.
2. Lets people see the giant brake system.

Concerning the GT-3 wheels, they were patterned after the original 15" Funch wheels of the 70s.

i think i would...
comparing the two car, the GT i think are a lot more drivable on the street than the enzo, so in that sense i would pick the GT. but if just for the fun, oh man, i would get enzo any day

I also trust Porsche quality more. I've heard some not so flattering things about Ferrari build quality, particularly the interior.
