I'm suprised that some have said they think over $40K is too much. $45K would make this car the best bargain in the auto industry. 425HP , 20 wheels . Somebody try to name another sedan or any other car for that matter who offers this, along with this kind of styling presence for under $45K. You won't find one. You pay this much for a POS Town Car! Why? In Detroit, Chrysler rules.

Well, if all you want is HP, sure it's a good deal. But there's more to a good car than lotsa HP. There is no $40K import that has such a crappy interior. If you care more about performance that lux/quality, this is your boat.

Personally, I'd take the new GS or one of the Infinitis, maybe even a BMW 3-Series 'vert for ~$40K+. It most certainly is not the best way to spend $40K if you're looking for "all-around" goodness.

I can't wait either...to watch the CTS-V destroy the 300C SRT-8. Call me biased, but knowing how much research and development the GM execs put into then CTS-V overall from styling to the powerplant to handling to braking, I find it tough for Chrysler to put together such a winning combination. IMO the CTS-V is a rarity, not rivaled by another American car that pops up the year after.

The 300C is slower, heavier, and only comes with a torque convertered transmission, basically ruling it out as competition around any road course. Not to mention the 300 ripped of the Caddy in terms of wheels (just more spokes), color choices, and lowered front bumper.

The 300C is a great car, and the best American sedan out there, but in terms of high performance, the 300C is beat.

I think that these cars are absolutely beautiful. Because its American we will always have something negitive to say about it, even if the the interior was top notch (which would bump the price upward to about the 50K mark ) we would still say no to it because of the question of reliability. I think they did right by only holding back on interior quality to curb the price, if it were anything else it would have hurt the 300c a bit too much. I figure it this way, those of us who question this car wouldn't go for it even if they did everything right simply because its american.

For a price like that, something's gotta give. And as for the quality, so far the hemi has proven to be reliable (according to JDPA). And they only made the 6.1 stronger, or so it seems. Furthermore, it uses the proven Merc tranny and suspension bits. I also agree that, we, as American consumers and unofficial critics, make sure we point out the weaknesses of the newcomers. But it seems to me that the 300, among a handful of other Chrysler products, have kind of created their own niche of cutting edge designs that just happen to have their fair share of selling points (i.e., power, features, attractive sitcker prices, etc.), as well. Chrysler has been providing a large part of the Automotive Excitement Pie, lately. And I give them 2 thumbs up! . . .just my thoughts. . .
