Default Now we know what the initials stand for. :)

Hey guys

I was reading a Korean car magazine ("Car Life") and I found these. I hope you find it interesting.

Lexus

IS (Individual Sedan)

ES (Elegant Sedan)

GS (Grand Sedan)

LS (Luxury Sedan)

RX (Recreational XC)

LX (Luxury XC)

SC (Sports Coupe)

MB

C (Compact)

E (Executive)

S (Super Salon)

I used to own a IS200 and IS300. I did not know what the IS stood for until now.

Have a great weekend!

Nope.
IS - International Sedan
ES- Excecutive sedan (EVERYONE knows that)
GS- Gran Sport

Not sure about the RX, GX, and LX, but those do not sound right to me.

Hi there

Sorry but the magazine did not mention the GX. I do not know why.
I can try and find out.

Really? Hmm, I got this info. from the car magazine. Now I'm lost.

It's funny, I asked all Lexus dealers what they stood for and they didn't know.

IMO, I think that all luxury car names are just meaningless alphabet soup + engine size unless the meaning/name comes from the maker. All those articles from car mags are just interpretations (ie SC = sports convertible, 'right'), not much better then our own guesses.

If Lexus comes out with another car call say the BS. I can just see it already, Best Sedan, Bad A$$ Seden, and so on and on.
