Lightbulb 2004 Paris Auto Show: Volkswagen Touareg W12 Sport Limited Edition

Volkswagen presented the W12 Touareg at Paris.

-450hp and 600Nm of torque
-5.9seconds from 0 to 100km/h
-limited VMax of 250km/h

I'm not sure if this will hit the shores of the USA... I doubt it will.

Maybe but I think this is better looking! I'd take that huge VW badge off the back though.

It is so when car makers think "sport" is acceleration only.

Why why why why why? Come on, 5.9s out of a 12-cyl?

Not too sure about that ...
VW expects that the biggest market is the US, and people in Europe would just go for the V10 TDi ..., that one is perhaps on paper slower, but I believe a much more "complete' car...

Itlll be coming this way... When the Touraeg was first officially released by VW, the only engine that had a doubt coming over to the US was the V10 TDI. Reason being is that they are having a problem with the Cert from CARB. W12 is scheduled to be released for sale in the US (as of when i was still at the dealer). Its designed to compete with the Cayenne Turbo.

Not 100% sure but I think they are only building like 50 of these cars.
That is why it's a limited edition.

It's a sharp SUV for sure. I have a V10 TDI and the powertrain is world class. However, the vehicle is piece of pony loaf!!!! Mine's for sale. I've had it 5 months and I've had so many problems with it it's ridiculous. On the Clubtouareg site, there are people talking about class action lawsuits, invoking lemon laws, a TSB list a mile long, and a forum for "Bugs/Problems". Just ordered a new LX470. I know a new one is out in 2006, but I love the styling and the features of the current model. Would love to have the V10 diesel in my new LX!!! that would be a good mix and match!!! I think the new Audi Pike's Peak with the V10 would be a good car. They seem to get build qualtiy and refinement better than VW for some reason and get that wonderful powertrain.

I'd hit it straight away ...

Come on is right ... who cares how quickly it runs? Nobody would be buying this for the quarter ... they'd buy them for the cool quad exhaust, body treatment, and exclusivity.
