Default And the culprit is...

Well, I was scrolling through some of Lexus 2005 PR stuff and I clicked on the "Technology Roundup" link. I was reading through the highlights when I found this:

Road-Reading Throttle Control
Seeking to enhance driving smoothness at every level, Lexus equipped the LS 430 and SC 430 models with a system called Intuitive Powertrain Control. Working with the electronic throttle control, this system helps to smooth out acceleration from a standing start by very slightly delaying throttle opening when the driver steps on the accelerator.

After reading that, does it not seems that this system would be responsible for the "delayed throttle response" in the ES and some of their other vehicles?

Good find, MPLexus301.

I have no idea whether or not this "feature" is also part of the new ES, but if anything, it only makes the acceleration more abrupt, not any smoother, than the conventional throttle controls. I'm speaking of my own experiences with the ES.

yah, it is abrupt in the newer es. I had a loaner 04 not long ago. From a stop if you floor it, it sits there for what feels like almost a whole second and then violenlty takes off, torque steer included.
