Question Remove window tint?

Does anyone know how to remove the window tinting film? Is it simply just peel it off or do I need to have the tint shop do it?

you can do it yourself it would be alot cheaper, but it is a big pain in the *** it will take some time, if i may ask why do u want to????? going to get it done darker? lighter?
best method to remove would be some glass cleaner and a box cutter style razor

Razor blades, soapy water mix and a lot of time on the roll-ups/small triangle windows. On the back glass NO BLADES. If you break one of the defroster lines that line will be busted forever. You gotta use some synthetic steel wool stuff to peel it off and scrub. The back is easy to screw up so be careful.

the best idea is to have a shop do the rear glass, otherwise you will need a steam gun. thast the only way to gauruntee you dont break a deforster line. on my contour, i had a tint shop tint my glass, they screwed it up twice. when i took it back the 3rd time, they gave me a partial refund and RIPPED the tint off of the glass...incuding the rear (they were pissed cause i kept bringing it back, but the tint looked like saran wrap). well needless to say, even after being on for only 1 day, only three of the deforster lines ever worked again. the second shop i took it to to have it all redone (just before i wrecked) did it right on all the other windows, butr couldnt get the back window right the first time. i took it back one time, and they had it fixed in 2 hours. i watched them use a steam gun to melt the tint away from the lines, then they just peeled it off...

a GOOD tint shop knows what they are doing. dont settle for second rate.

the last time I saw a tint guy do it, he put a heat gun to the outside side of the glass, and then slit it right now the middle. slowly it came off in two sheets. I didnt get to see him do the rear window, i bet thats a pain in the ***.

Some things should be professionally done.

Do all the glass yourself EXCEPT for the rear glass.....it will be cheaper that way you only have to pay for the removal of the back glass....the fronts are easy but the rears are not worth the risk....for the fronts buy winex with amonia and use single edge razor blades....soak the glass down and it will come off easily.

Hope this helps!!
