Pole Position
I ordered a spare Lexus key (no transmitter) and hacked off the upper 5/8" of the head (much like the wallet key they sell). This will leave a flange to anchor into the alarm fob. I opened up the alarm fob and modded it to accept the key and provide a hole for the shank to exit. This was done with a dremel and hand files. After the casing was modded, I removed the key and filled the key anchor area with high strength epoxy. Carefully embedding the key into the epoxy, I measured squareness on all four sides with a carpenter's square and clamped the whole assembly down to the workbench.
24 hours full curing time later and it's done.
Being that's it's one piece, the key can't scratch or wear the fob which happens in 100% of all keychain applications. The other keys beat the fobs up over time. Anyone here that has a nice fob and keys attached to it know what I mean. This is exactly what this design prevents. The fact it has no rings or holes to attach other keys is no mistake either.
