Wow, that's a shame...I really liked my Sentra's and hate to see em go down.

Well, there are plenty of older Sentras left on the market....and, if you look carefully, you might find some of the original SE-R's from the early 1990's. Or (even better) , you can start saving toward an Altima SE-R. Altimas are built in the Nissan plant at Smyrna, TN, and generally don't have the problems that the newer Mexican-assembled Sentras have had....though the Altima's interior is a little cheap for this class of car....something that Nissan is trying to address.

i can pick the nissan up for $4000. But my sights are set on something else . A 1999 Cadillac STS with all options except moonroof. Pearl white, upgraded wheels and 75,000 miles. May be picking it up for about $7500. By the way the sentras interior is beat, it was broken into and had the radio stolen. There was another SE-R Spec V that i looked at. It was black with red interior, 30,000 miles and went for $8400, about $1000 less than trade in value. Solid deal but slightly out of my range. In another post I did check out a 97 es but turned out to have a worn rear seal and my mechanic advised not to buy it.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Caddy has worse reliability than Benz. My mom had 2 before she gave it up. A guy I know has an STS and he loves the engine. He hates his repair bills. He's afraid to drive the car for fear something will break down. Looks like Caddy is doing better with the new models but only time will tell. I caution you...don't get a used Caddy without a full warranty.

Both, in general, are well below average. Cadillac's problems are mostly with stuff that is loosely assembled, poor fit-and-finish, etc... Mercedes has troubles with hardware and SERIOUS troubles with electronics.

the caddy has electrical problems as well but the northstar is bulletproof in terms of reliability. Does anyone have past experience with a 99' sts?
