Foglamps..to use or not to use?
Hey guys...
Just a question, but do you run with your foglamps on all the time or just when the weather mandates?
Could you please state why you chose your selection as well?
I am kind of confused with these clear foglamps on my GX. They don't seem very functional, so I thought why not just run with them on.
Comments and mods, if this is the wrong forum, please correct.
Thanks..Rob

I've got my lights on all the times (turning lights rigged up to stay on)... they don't even point straight lol.
I need them in the dark I can't see jack at night without them on.

But I use mine when it's muggy out. Not sure why I chose to do that.

They are "cosmetic" fogs. Don't really do much but they DO do something. They enhance foreground which is an improvement on the surface. Most people see more light and go WOW I can see now! Problem is what counts is down the road illumination, not 10 feet in front of the car. This extra light up front may also strain the eyes and make it harder to see further down the road even tho you think you can see better.
It's like watching tv in a dark room. Your eyeballs are set at looking at the bright image in front of you. If you glance anywhere else in the dark room (or the remote), you can't see crap.
Now of course, good cosmetic fogs with an even spread and correct design can supplement low beams and not cause any detriment. I find the SC fogs (that's 97 and up) do a good job of this.
If anything, nowadays where DRL's are popular and a good idea, it's nice to use your fogs during the day as DRL's to increase visibilty and safety. I turn my lights on in anything other than direct sunlight.

Usually fog lights, specifically yellow ones, are used to make yourself more visible to OTHER driver. The yellow part of the spectrum doesn't penetrate very far at all...
