Honda's new truck to be called 'Ridgeline'

Toronto, Ontario - Honda announced that its all-new 4-door, 4WD truck will be named the "Ridgeline". The Ridgeline name was chosen to emphasize the vehicle's adventurous spirit and truck capabilities, said the company. The production Ridgeline will make its Canadian debut at the 2005 Montreal International Auto Show in January 2005, and will go on sale in the Spring of 2005 as a 2006 model.

The Ridgeline has the first fully integrated, closed-box frame with unibody construction which offers half-ton payload capacity and significantly stronger body rigidity versus traditional body-on-frame trucks. For hauling, the Ridgeline features a five-foot bed with minimal wheel arch intrusion and is designed to carry a wide variety of cargo including two of Honda's largest off-road motorcycles, the CRF450.

Inside, the Ridgeline will feature a spacious, full-size, five-passenger interior in a more maneuverable and garageable mid-size truck package. Utilizing a four-wheel independent suspension mounted to a highly rigid body, the Ridgeline will deliver superior handling and ride comfort versus other trucks in its class, says Honda.

The Ridgeline will be powered by 3.5-litre, V-6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission with a fully automatic 4-wheel drive system and a long list of standard safety features including 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, side curtain airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control.

Complete details on the Ridgeline's innovative new approach to the truck market will be available at both the 2005 North American International Auto Show and at the 2005 Montreal International Auto Show.

Sources are telling us that the SUT will officially be named Havasu when it makes its official debut at the 2005 NAIAS next January, but other names under possible consideration include Rockline and Ridgeline.

It does look like a baby avalanche, about the size of the old Tacoma. I assume it will have that DOD thing the new minivan has(i forgot its name, but yall know what im talking about). And I assume that is the only way you can equip it. Like a Ford Sport Trak. Isnt that thing discontinued? I hope its more successful than that Sport Trak.

The concept truck is almost identical to the Element just not so useless, ugly, and small.

The front end and the door frames are a direct design rip off (tho an improvement).

The test mule (which is quite different) looks like a Ford F350. I find this lacking considering Honda is usually good at making striking, good looking designs. I hope they fix that.

I've said it since I first saw pics, that thing is horrid. They try to give it an offroad look so they put tiny wheels with some knobby tires that are already filling up the baby wheel wells. The front could look bad ***, but since it's a Honda truck with a V6, FWD bias, and no history of anything truck, it just looks like an extreme poseur.

I see that happening. That is really tough on Honda's part. What are they trying to prove? Honda is not for the rugged type. Never has been and from the looks of it NEVER will be.

So ugly; Honda lost its style it had back in the late '80's/early '90's.
