Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Chris Bangle design the current 3-series?

Also, I though it was confirmed that the 1-series was coming to the US...

Default new designs

At least bmw is trying to push the envelope with new designs intead of the same ol boring stuff. Now you can tell a bimmer from blocks away. The only lexus you can do that with is the sc300/400/430 and the gs. Won't be able to with the new gs though.

I don't think he was at BMW when the current 3-series was developed. But, IMO, even the current 3-series (not the one BMW is working on right now) is a step-down, quality-wise from the last-generation 3. However, few can argue that the current 3-series STILL sets the standard in its class for chassis, steering, and driving dynamics.

I see conflicting reports in the auto press about the prospects for the 1-series in the U.S. market. BMW has tried before to sell small hatchbacks in the U.S. market.....unsuccessfully with the 318i and VERY successfully with the Mini Cooper.

If you have good credible confirmation that we WILL get the 1-series, please post it. That would be significant news for small hatchback buyers.

Bangle has done all the ungainly updates to it. He did not initially design it.

2nd pic has ugly tailights that don't even flow well. There just like an uglier version of the new X5's.

The 4th pic has a Saab rear end feel to it. I'll take the Saab over that one..

Thumbs down

The rear of the 7 is tight, but that's only because it reminds me of Audi.

M6 is awesome.

The 2 is just a haggard disgrace.

As previously mentioned, this face-lifted 7 has a rear that looks like a cross between the new A6 and the face-lifted ES330, but done in an uglier way. Just doesn't flow well for me.

The 6 on the other hand is a good looking car if not for the obtrusive hump in butt.

BMW will lose whatever respect they have left with the release of the 2 series. This thing has to be a joke.
Kia's are designed better! It looks like it's targeted at 16 year old girls. It's disturbingly "cute".

Keep in mind it's an artist's rendition. I'm sure the 2-series, if it really will be called that, which I highly doubt, will be better looking and more aggressively styled, ala the 1-series.

I'd get an M2 for sure. (But then again, I'd also get a Mini Cooper S and a Miata...)

I like the softened front end of the 7--looking at the grille/hood I can almost see some E39 5 Series, which may have been the best BMW body style ever. The side view mirrors also look a bit different than the current design. Back looks good, too--I was never fan of the red strip across the trunk.

2 Series, like everyone says, I see a lot of resemblance to the tC (especially the C-pillar/trunkline)

As for the M6--whoa There will be a few Porsche owners missing their doors when that thing smokes past...
