Yup, they have to throw the case out if the dumb cop wrote down the wrong car.

You give the police too much credit for being car experts. Most of them are not really CAR experts like we are here at CL. They DO know the laws, of course, and how to enforce them....that is their job. But many, if not most, of us here at CL can put the average police officer or State trooper to shame whan it comes to instant car recognition. That is why, if they see something questionable, they have to stop and check it out.
