Default What do you think of this Price on '05 LS430 Ultra

2005 LS430 Ultra Luxury in Flint Mica w/Black Leather interior *Brand New*
dealer is offering to sell car for $65,500 out the door for $71,438
invoice is supposedly $63,423
this car is going for a family member up north in Santa Clara County near San Jose(hence the 8.25% salestax) and the prices do NOT include Shipping

i think its a good price but its the dealers final offer and my uncle (who is buying it for himself) is set on getting one for $70,500 or less, out the door.

can i get some thoughts please?

The LS430's Ultra Luxury package, IMO, is not worth what it costs. And, in the long run, I don't think it will add that much to the car's resale value several years down the road either. Have your uncle price a base LS430 and see if he can live with it. The base car starts at 56K and typically lists in the low 60's.....will probably go out the door, tax, title, and tags, for around 58-59K.

And....trust me.....even the base LS430 is a HELL of a good luxury car. thumbup:

i always thought that the Ultras had good resale since there werent that many brought to the US?

he did look at both a base, and a Modern Luxury. thing is is that hes comin from a ~5 Year old S class w/nav and etc.... he wanted something more dependable, better looking, more powerful, cheaper, and good service... so of course i had to have him look at the LS.

Yes....ANY used LS430 in decent shape has good resale value. I just meant that I didn't think that the Ultra package was worth what it costs new ($11,000-plus) or what potential resale value it would add down the
road.
A Mercedes S-class, structurally, is incredibly strong. It is built like an Army tank. In a high-speed crash it is one of the safest cars ever designed, but for quality and reliability it is a piece of s - - -.
ANY LS430....Ultra or not.....will give your uncle the quality, dependability and service he is looking for. It's just a question of whether you two think the Ultra package is worth the $$$$$$ it costs. I don't....but that is your decision.

Well if you're uncle is indeed going to go out and buy a replacement for his S Class and he wants a new luxury sedan then I think the LS430 is a great choice. If he were to get another S500 comparable to the LS he'd be paying maybe $30k MORE. Personally I think the LS with the 18s is a better looking car, smoother, more luxurious, and more reliable. Also the LS interior is the most beautiful interior I've ever been in.

Looking at price, a similarly equipped LS is usually always gonna win against the competition.
