If it really is "GS460", I guess that we can be expecting the new LS and SC to be packing at least that many litres under the hood . Again, just speculation but it sure is fun to think about.

I don't know about the 4.7L V8 though. They just squeezed another 40HP (Sequoia/Tundra) out of it without going for more cubes, so maybe they will be able to get another competitive figure out of 4.7 Litres with the new LX replacement? Who knows.

Yeah true. I understand where you are coming from. Considering that they got another 40hp out of the engine, I think it will be around for awhile longer. Its a clean engine, and gets some banging gas mileage. But, even with the power upgrade, it still is lacking. And they keep talking about how they are gonna get serious about hp. I can see them using this engine as a base V8 engine for the Tundra and probably enlarging this current one to about 5.5 - 5.7L or something like that.

The 4.3 will obviously get some sort of update. But you have to wonder if they registered GS460 why they didn't do LS460 and SC460 at the same time. Last upgrade was also .3 l, maybe it does make sense. But unless fuel efficiency is starting to affect future engine plans, nearer to 500 seems to make more sense. At least we find out over time.

So we will have of 5 different trims for new GS in future:

GS300 = 245hp
GS300 AWD = 245hp
GS350 = 280hp
GS450h = 280hp(3.5l) + 40hp(Elec. motor) Probably
GS460 = This just doesn't sound right but if it comes out I guess it will host 340+ ponies

I guess the next big question for the GS460, now that the Hybrid has been announced, is an AWD version? Next year's AWD is currently slated only for the GS330...the V6.

Probably one of the new plants in TX or TN. Yeah, it will be made here but I have more confidence in Lexus than other brands.

From my understanding the 3.5 liter Lexus will have 300+hp

Yeah the 3.5L will be the 2GR-FSE dual vvt-i. That will be the powerhouse for the next IS. I heard 320. but anything is possible.

I'm really beginning to wonder what Lexus will do with the new IS. On one hand I have heard 2.5L V6 with ~215HP and an upperlevel 3.5L V6 with ~285HP. To me, this seems like the most logical way to lay things out, but with a top end "GT" V8 model on top of that. On the otherhand I have heard to expect a 2.5L V6 with ~265HP and a 3.5L V6 with ~320HP.

265HP from 2.5L seems unlikely to me, especially when they're using 3.0L to get 245HP. I don't know though, anything can happen I suppose.

From what we heard directly from Ralph Pisco from CL's direct Lexus Marketing contact, the next IS will have the 2.5 and the 3.5 variant. The 3.5 is supposed to have over 300 hp. That is astounding as the legendary MKIV 2JZ-GTE pumped out 320 hp w/twin turbos. Same was said from Chuck Goldsboro (Team Lexus Owner/Driver) as he briefed us at the Lexus Grand Am Champions weekend event @ CA speedway at the end of October. We will have to cross our fingers, wait and see at this point.
