And the Q45 has had 340hp (more like 200) since 2002.
What do you mean"more like 200"? They seem slow?

There are two RWD tube chassis Solaras w/highly modified 2JZ-GTE's competing in NHRA Sport Compact series. The first one of existence was the Bullish Racing / Street Glow car and the 2nd is the Lucas Oil Solara.

The care never accelerated or performed as promised. It is fast now. I remember a race (the only one) with a new Q and i was ahead a headlight. But to have 50 more ponies than the LS and ever out accelerating it in any tests. It was the gearing, Nissan said to have fixed it but the media is so disinterested in the car we never saw a new test with it. The M45 also will have the same 5 speed while Lexus moves to 6 speed autos. An extra gear=better gearing. Thus the 290hp LS 430 is just as fast.

The M45 will have 335 hp, not 340 hp. Apparently the 0 to 60 will be in the mid 5's, due to some changes in torque delivery.

OK everyone has been talking about wht the 2006 M45 has 335 hp instead of 340 hp like the Q45. Today I finally got the answer.

It turns out that by dropping the horsepower 5 horsepower they were able to gain additional torque and still meet EPA specs. The reason for doing this was that the 0-60 mph time was much improved. They won't release the numbers but I understand that they are impresive and will be released at the Detroit Autoshow.

Cool. So drop 5 horses and gain some 0-60 time.

Actually, I seem to remember that the Japanese market Supra used to have some feature on it that would actually limit the amount of gas going in (from a start) so you would accelerate faster (torque went up when you limited the gas - or something like that!). I would imagine that changing a cars HP/Torque curve would do more for acceleration than adding 5 more hp.

Him maybe this is the same concept that the new GS's have. Well, hopefully.
