they usually use DI technology on diesel engines.

We WILL be getting cleaner, European-type low-sulfur diesel fuel here in the U.S. by 2006.....that is an EPA mandate. When we do, then you will probably see many more European-type DI diesels offered for sale here. Currently only VW sells a more or less complete line of diesels here, along with one or two M-B products....and even they not quite the same diesel engines offered in Europe.

I still think...and I have posted this in other threads......that in a few years diesels will be sharing the same popularity here that hybrids and advanced gasoline VTEC engines currently do. They generally offer the same fuel mileage with less mechanical and electrical complexity.
