What you posted was a 929, not a Millenia. The 929 was rear-drive....and I remember it had a jumpy throttle, so it spun its rear tires easily on a slick surface......Mazda had not yet started using Traction Control.

Millenias sat on the lots for months....dealers couldn't give them away even with steep discounts. It was a nice car ( typical driver-oriented Mazda handling ) but not built quite to Lexus standards....the bodies were not as rattle and creak-free as a Lexus, and the transmissions were not as smooth. Probably the Millenia's best feature....and something that the public just never really caught on to....was the Miller-Cycle engine on the S model making 210 HP..which was not bad for the time.

But it is very spacious and the interior is distinctive and with the wood, classy.
I almost bought a Millinia instead of the ES 8 years ago. COultn't get the S, so I drove the 170hp, 2.5 V-6 models and omg, it was SO SLOW. It took 3 seconds for anything to happen with your foot on the pedal. The interior again was nice, different and much roomier than the ES.
MMarshall is correct with the 929 figures.

I also remember how FLOATY that car was at speed. I thought it was just my dad's alignment or something. Makes a stock GS feel like a BMW. Did those cars have an independant rear end?
Did you ever notice they have a strange powerband too?
