Talking OK Acura fans and haters, C&D has spoken

"Best Luxury Sedan" - Acura RL
"Best Sports Sedan" - Acura TSX
"Best Luxury Sports Sedan" - BMW 3-series

Pretty lame distinction between those last two categories, but anywho...

Corvette wins best 'performance' car.

Chrysler 300/300C wins "Best Full-Size Sedan"

Anyway, no Lexus nominees let alone winners.

I can totally agree with BMW's win........but the RL and TSX??

Let me guess,
"Best Family Sedan" Honda Accord
"Best Minivan" Honda Oydessy
"Best Luxury SUV" BMW X5

Car & Driver has always been Honda/Acura biased. The Accord always is nominated on their 10 best list every time. Everytime there's a Toyota/Lexus matched in a comparo w/Honda, they always favored Honda. I'm not surprised.

Thats a fair statement. I noticed/ heard this before as well. Next months issue of C&D has a story on the 745i as 'Best Design of the Century'

I linked the RL article when they reviewed it. Look at the article. They were less than thrilled with the car. They said it was nice, they were not head over heels over it. The only thing I can figure out is the RL at 48k is the only new luxury car under the Car and Driver threshold. Or Acura paid.
Same with the TSX. The first review, they compared it to the 3rd gen Maxima. "An utter failure at a BMW 3" was written. Now the car is a 10 best winner?
This is why I report and read CAR, EVO, Sports Car International etc. The usual car mags are just weird. Kudos to Acura, its good press for them.
I was shocked the G35 got bumped. And quite frankly, Honda has not one but 3 Accords on the list. The Euro Accord TSX, American Accord and the stretched platform Accord, the RL.
Again, kudos to Acura for the wins.

Generally true. I'm a regular C&D reader. The only time I can remember a Toyota product winning out over a Honda was during a recent test of family sedans...the Camry edged out the Accord for top spot.

I sometimes wonder about their fascination with the Accord for so long myself. There is no doubt the Accord is one extremely well-built car...one of the best in the industry for assembly quality, but the light, numb, rubbery power steering feel and the somewhat jerky-shifting automatic transmissions on all but the most recent ones never did impress me much.

Let's also see if Bedard, Yates, Csere and Co. STILL like the BMW 3-series after you-know-who gets done screwing with it.

My 1991 LS400 has a smoother tranny and better steering feel than my friend's 2000 Accord.

And...for a 13-14-year old car, that is saying something.

Btw, Lexus has no eligible cars. Cars have be be new from the ground up or a previous winner.

I just have faith in Toyota. I don't really like Honda, however my parents have a Honda-powered lawn mower, since I feel Tecumseh/B&S are still stuck in the 60's.

The new GS AWD should be a good prospect next year, IMO...especially if Lexus gets around to fitting the AWD to both versions....the 330 and 430. Current plans, though, call for the 330 to get it first.

But they did choose the LS 430 over the Jaguar, BMW, Benz, and Audi...almost a year ago.

Acura doesn't have a car to compete in that category.
