2006 Avalon...naked

I don't know.....maybe a lot of cars look the same to me, but I still think this Avalon somewhat resembles the 5 series. Does anyone else see it?
And to a lesser extent.

Areo work and styling are what takes the longest to design these days. Toyota has a world-class spy network, and I'm betting they were able to get some early "green-lighted" renderings of the 5 or 7 while this Avalon was still in it's early design stages 3 or 4 years ago.
Overall, I like it so far.

Why can’t the GS be unique? Now whenever anyone buys a GS, its gonna be "the Lexus that looks like an Avalon" or "fully loaded avalon".
one word........ MARKET DIFFERENTIATION.
one word........ MARKET DIFFERENTIATION.

Overall, the Avalon is pretty original in design, IMO. The only thing that makes it look like a GS or a BMW is that it has 4-wheels and 4-doors.

I'd guage design on a lower-priced and less prestigious vehicle first.
Of course, if the design trend continues upwards, it might damage the image of the flagship (in this case, the LS).
I guess the middle of the range isn't a bad place to begin.

Looks very nice. Far better than the current model. Probably what the ES should look like.
And no, it looks like nothing else on the road. It's an undeserved insult to the Avalon to compare this to a 5 or 7 series, or whatever.
It seems like people have a hard time differentiating car designs.
I'm wondering if some people find it difficult to tell the difference between a Ram, F-150, & Silverado since they all are shaped like pickup trucks.
