Default need help.. turbo question

ok so heres the problem a friend of mine just bought a brand new dodge srt-4 yesterday it has about 500 miles on it and now when he drives it and every time it reaches 3k rpms and the turbo starts to spool it makes a horrible rattling noise coming straight from the turbo.to me it sounds like the turbo is off balance but im not too sure. any one know why its doing that or what is wrong?? we are about to have it trailered to the dodge dealership to have it checked out. so i guess im just looking for some advice or knowledge

any help is greatly appreciated

Noise from the turbo is NEVER a good thing, or something that should be ignored. It's a pretty reliable indication that something is very wrong. Definitely take it to the dealer ASAP.

When a turbine goes, it usually goes in a BIG way. You risk damaging other parts of the engine when that happens. As to what's wrong with it, it could be any number of things...compromised seals, oil/coolant leak (insufficient cooling), or a cracked/damaged blade.

Good luck.
